curving (windy) staircase

curving (windy) staircase

Postby agsurf5 » Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:35 pm

hi,

i would like to create a very long and windy staircase using VUE. let's imagine the spanish steps but following an S line. it is an outside staircase.

i tried to create a step and use the scatter/replicate, but i don't seem to find the proper way to have it working. i can do spiraling stairs, straight stairs, but no curving one.

do you know how i can do it?

thanks a bunch.

that for sure. and trust me i am doing a bunch...
can you at least point me towards the right place to experiment... :) ? in the scatter/replicate or somewhere else...? (is there a free transform tool similar to photoshop?)

thanks,
alberto.

I know how this little problems can consume time and so i uploaded two very simple spiral stairs for you, i made in another 3d application. Just took me 3 minutes, so no big thing but hopefully will help you.

I put both in an obj file (just delete the geometrie you don´t need). I think Vue should open obj´s but i am not sure...didn´t try it out.

here is the downloadlink (rapidshare --- 1MB)

I can´t see from this pictures what you are expecting and how your stairs should look like. I guess my version got not enough steps, but maybe you can repeat it.

And I am usually using Maya for any 3D work. So i am new to Vue and can´t tell you how to create a stairs in this application.
