help with camera in Vue 6 Pro Studio

Postby bsteagal » Mon May 04, 2009 8:56 am

Hi... I have what is probably an easy question to answer... but it is something that is annoying me no end..

I'm having issues with how vue creates the animation of a camera.. In this case I will be adjusting the focal length to zoom in on some action. I set a keyframe for all properties at the beginning of the animation... move over to where I want the camera to start zooming in... move to the end of where I want the focal length to stop and set another keyframe.

Normally, this should be it... but what is happening is that inbetween the keyframe that I set at the beginning of my animation and the keyframe where I want the focal length to start changing.. the focal length changes wildly. AAAArrgghhh.. how do I stop this from happening?

thanks for the help

i don't have that particular version but i imagine it is the same problem in mine as yours. it has to do with how the key frames are created, by default it is set to smooth weighted. this means that in the curve editor it creates a bezier curve that interpolates between the 2 key frames. when it does this instead of having a liner change it first does the opposite of the desired movement to prepare for the action. this makes actions look more realistic and organic, but in this case screws everything up. there are 2 was to fix the problem, the easiest is to set the key frames individually by right clicking and choose add focus key frame. if that doesn't work then you need to change the curve in the curve editor. after the curve editor is open, find the key frames for focus, right click on them and change to linear. hope this fixes the problem
