Material Help

Postby Mannie » Tue Dec 02, 2008 6:38 am

Hi, i started texturing the cottage and am at the roof. I have a nice texture made but there is still one problem with it. the bottom and side arent the same as the top. Spent like 40 minutes figuring it out but no luck. So it is time to ask the pro's ;) what should i do to get this right. It is an image of straw with a layer of grass material.

Mannie,

Apply your texture in sketchup first as there are UV tools to adjust the texture exactly the way you need it, then import into Vue and add bump, spec, etc.

Mannie

I made a seamless texture (seamless horizontally) for you.

here is a very quick model with it on rendered with Vue, texture is below image.

remember to apply it in SU first.

I have mapped it for you, see email.

remember when importing to Vue you will need to turn off the transparency as the texture is a .png so on import Vue makes it transparent.

Yeah, it's a mapping thing, Vue maps by predetermined shapes, The best thing to do here is create a mixed texture and save it then UV map in SU and re-import.

By the way, if you smooth the model to say 50% you will overcome the strange looking copular shadows on the walls.

I'll probably leave out that moss then, since that is tricky however i'm sure it can be done in vue.
