Free objects and models?

I hope this is the right place to ask this....

Is it possible to create a repository for users to upload objects or models in say .vob or .3ds format for all to share?
I know we all have our favorite modeling app that has it's own strenghts and weaknesses, but tapping from various apps and posting them Vue ready could be a great resource to all registered users (and may encourage lurkers to come out of hiding and sign up, even if it's just to download free models)

I know that will require space and bandwidth from Geekatplay, but on the other hand it will be a great resource for members and the site in general.

Without going overboard now, if this is possible then who knows we may even be able to share .atm. and .mat's too in time.

Just thoughts.

Great news, with such a facility we can help one another, share models, atmospheres, textures etc. Get a solid 'geek' community going with resources and tutorials second to none.

I was thinking if anyone has materials to share they could use a glode to display them similar to the way Maxwell does it.








Normally the image comes with the .mat so that folk can see how it looks before downloading it.
