Broken Flower Pot tuts

Broken Flower Pot tuts

Postby Mari-Anne » Mon Mar 29, 2010 8:28 am

Hi,

Just out of curiosity - what happened to the Broken Flower Pot tutorials (#104, 105, & 106)? I see that they have been replaced with some Modeling a Grenade tutorials. Did making the dirt prove to be too difficult, by chance? I finally finished the tutorial trio however, I couldn't master making the dirt with the Facet tool. Instead, I ended up making the dirt out of a grid, which looked totally funky. Well, sort of - I added some thickness and when it was textured in Vue, you could at least tell it was a broken flower pot with dirt spilling out.

Dunno where the tuts went or why the new ones wont play. Send a message to Vladimir as he does all the internetty stuff. Sorry for the inconvienance. BTW, if you cant get the facet tool to work like I did, try creating the dirt out of a geodesic sphere as all sides have equal numbered sides. You will have best results when subdividing and pulling verts around to shape it.

Thanks, Gary - I think it's just a matter of practice with the Facet tool. You do say in the tutorial that it's a bit tricky. Just the ole' German saying, Übung macht perfekt.

Actually, I think I got the German and American expressions mixed up. I think it's supposed to be Übung macht Meister (Practice makes Master) - but then it's been a while ago since I was immersed in German......
