Yes, that looks just perfekt! :D

Next week my little son is no longer ill (I hope, it was a very long time now) and I can record the first "new" tutorials for vue in german.

@xfgexo: if a german site is created you are more crazy, I think.

your flash player default video size is to huge,
the flash player your using makes it buffer to much,
you can't scrub the time line to play the video were ever you want to,
there is no were to adjust the size for watching the video,s
there is no option to download the videos.

there is no option to order popcorn while watching the video's

I will let G@P staff chime in on this but in the mean time here are my thoughts on the subject.

E-Z wrote:your flash player default video size is to huge

I am guessing you probably have a smaller size monitor? As they seem to be a perfect size on mine. However, One thing that could be done when publishing the flash videos is to allow for resizing and full screen or set it to %100 as this would probably help people with smaller monitors. The only trouble is then the video may become blurry or distorted making it harder to see, especially the text.

E-Z wrote:the flash player your using makes it buffer to much

I am suspecting you may have trouble with this if you have older hardware or a slower internet connection. On my end the player begins to play immediately while it starts to buffer. But if your hardware or internet connection is causing a bottleneck you could see it buffer long before it begins to play. I am also not sure what FPS and what the audio stream quality is set to when they published the FLV files but there could be room to lower them just a tad which might help. Although i am guessing its already set for a good balance of quality vs speed.

E-Z wrote:you can't scrub the time line to play the video were ever you want to

When i play the tutorials online or offline i am able to scrub the time line by simply dragging the white arrow back and forth. It often helps to first pause the movie and then scrub but should work in either case.

It appears for the online tutorials you cant adjust the size. However the down loadable ones you can, in fact you can even view them full screen. Again as noted above, something might be able to be done when publishing the movie but then it might cause the video to be blurry or distorted depending on a persons screen size and resolution.

E-Z wrote:there is no option to download the videos.

That's why they have the store :) Once purchased, they can be downloaded and viewed directly from your computer. Plus you get all the tutorials in a set instead of only the ones available online.

Again though i am just a fellow tutorial watcher so its best to wait for a response from vovka or another G@P staff member.

p.s. I ate all the popcorn ;)

No vovka, it's a more than this, but this too. He has very bad eyes and it looks like he have to change the school in the next weeks. At moment we are running from doctor to doctor to get the right to place him to a school only for childrens with bad eyes...

Today I'm beginning - with the sight to the german site - with the series for tutorials. The first one is rendering now... "overview over the workspace in vue". the next would be some for the different terrains, there settings and so on. After this I would tell about the same points in the editors, after this about materials, then plants.....

First I want to record some of them and then upload all at once. Hope it's right.

By the way... I need those tiled downloads in your shop! Please don't change them. I live in a Village, the Internet access is not the fastest. Sometimes I only have 10kb/s, it's not really much.

your flash player is not standard its not not for everyone
you need to base it on a standard web base size,
one size works for all just because it fits for you does not mean it fits for others.

the buffer comes from your server not mine
all other video sites play just fine.

your flash player is out dated thats why you can not skrub
and thats another reason why it buffers to much,
the flash player has coding in side it and if its not set right it will buffer
and most out dated players will buffer to much.

all i hear is
hi auh auh auh buffer my name is buffer auh auh and for the next video auh auh auh buffer auh buffer thank you very much buffer.

oh yeah after reading this i looked below and it shows

I really don't have the buffer problem, so if it was the server and outdated player i should have that also, and others too. The size i allways hard to pick, there are people with lower resolutions but not so much anymore i guess.

Oh and the bot is just a crawler from yahoo to index the site, there is also google and so on.

Flash player - i have new version, that will replaced old one very soon. Need rework with some link handler.
Streaming speed - this is little bit harder. Currently we have very, very, very large traffic. Couple choses, one add more servers (hmm cost goes up) other limited how many tut's you can view at day. Second is worst one.
Recording resolution 1024x768, that standard screen resolution. I think allow to player expand to "full screen" mode will help a lot. We do using newer player in latest DVD's that have more options.

Should we switch to highdef resolution 1920x1080? How many of you using that resolution? How many of you using dual screen setup?

Also some one decide to dedicate some time to help with website (html, php, flash) let me know.

I think 1024x768 is perfect, not everyone has big resolutions. Mine is 1680x1050 and no buffer probs, maybe because i have a good bandwith. I am very busy with my own site, but i can do a few things as we had discussed before in private about the forum.

As i stated before, i am certainly available and willing to help out with the site etc. Just need a direction to go in. I have a pretty vast background in several technologies so if you have specifics i will probably be able to adapt to them. Although of recent most my work has been in Flash. Flash Site - WIP for example (Speakers on?). As well as skinning their forums and install of forum software, Teamspeak server, Game servers etc. Though the heart of my background is in Servers & Hardware but i dable in everything to some degree.

One thing to consider is putting up a poll for users desktop resolutions. Although generally speaking resolutions are bigger now then they were say 3-5 years ago.

Personally i run 1920x1200 wide screen. I also currently have a triple monitor setup on my ATI HD 5870. But for the purpose of this discussion, i use only one on a regular basis. As the others are used primarily for monitoring and working with our in house Primary Domain controller, Active Directory, DNS servers, web servers etc.

Overall i wouldn't reduce the size of the flash tutorials. Instead would tweak the existing code to allow the players to be re sized to users preference. But just my 2 cents worth.
